The Sixth Global Chinese Andrology and Sexual Medicine Forum Highlights
On July 11, 2020, the sixth global Chinese andrology and sexual medicine forum, supported by the ISSM and APSSM, and cosponsored by the Global Chinese Andrology and sexual Medicine Association (GCASMA) and the China Sexology Association (CSA), opened with a grand ceremony. The conference was held online through Zoom and “Kangailiangyi” live broadcast. The theme of the forum was “new progress of sexual medicine and andrology – diagnosis and treatment under pandemic of COVID 19”. Professor Run Wang (Past President of SMSNA and Co-President of GCASMA from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School and MD Anderson Cancer Center) and Professor Hui Jiang (President of CSA and Co-President of GCASMA from Peking University Third Hospital) co-chaired the conference. More than 1300 physicians in sexual medicine and andrology from China and abroad attended the conference. More than 58,000 people watched the live broadcast.
Professor Haocheng Lin, secretary general of GCASMA, from Peking University Third Hospital, announced the opening of the conference. Professor Jiang and Professor Wang expressed the warm welcome to all speakers and guests on behalf of the GCASMA. Professor Luiz Otavio Torres (President of ISSM) presented the missions of the ISSM and the benefits of becoming ISSM members. Professor Bang-ping Jiann (President of APSSM) encouraged all GCASMA members to join APSSM. Professor Kwangsang Park (Past President of Korean Society of Sexual Medicine and Andrology) presented practice strategy in sexual medicine in Korea during COVID 19 pandemic.
Two individuals were recognized by the GCASMA for their outstanding contributions to sexual medicine. They are Professor Bang-ping Jiann (President of the APSSM, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan) and Professor Huiliang Zhou (Vice President of the CSA, the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University). The GCASMA also awarded the Gotop Medical, Ltd. for outstanding contribution in supporting research and clinic practice in sexual medicine related to its internationally brand Rigscan and Wuhu SNNDA Medical Treatment Appliance Technology Co., Ltd. for international innovation contribution related to ShangRing. Professor Yutian Dai, President-elect of the Chinse Sexual Medicine Society announced the 2020 GCASMA awards.
Professor Jiang then announced the launch of the “national survey for Chinese male genitalia” supported by CSA and Baidu – the biggest search engine in China.
The scientific program covered all aspects in sexual medicine and andrology. The program divided into 6 sessions. For state-of-art lectures, Professor Wang presented current penile enhancement surgeries; Penile rehabilitation after radical prostatectomy was delivered by Professor Jiann. Professor Phillip Li from Cornell University presented the past and current multi-nation clinical trials of ShangRing for circumcision in all age group. The “micro-energy medicine and ED therapy” topic was updated by Professor Zhongcheng Xin from Peking University First Hospital. Professor Dai introduced a new classification for premature ejaculation based on neuroscience research. The use of telemedicine and public education related to sexual health were also covered in this session.
During sexual dysfunction session, Professors Jihong Liu, Huiliang Zhou, Zhong Wang, Xiansheng Zhang, Tao Song, Junhong Deng and Mujun Lu discussed the disease characteristics and new diagnosis and treatment strategies.
For men’s health session, Dr. Yuhui Wang from Sweden presented the testosterone replacement in Sweden. Dr. Xiaohui Liu from Macao, Professors Xiangsheng Zhang, Shanchao Zhao, Tao Jiang and Fubiao Li delivered keynote speeches regarding the latest research progress in this field.
We then had the special session on male reproduction. Professor Lianming Zhao, Zhongyi Sun, Mingzhen Yuan and Wenhao Tang discussed the issues of microsurgery, assistant reproductive technology, and male fertility protection based on their experiences.
The last part of the forum is a special session for young physicians. Several rising stars in sexual medicine and andrology in China shared some complex cases with audience.
At the end of the forum, Professor Jiang thanked all participants for their contributions to the conference during this difficult time with COVID 19 pandemic. On behalf of the GCASMA, Professor Wang wished great success and good health for all colleagues around the world.
